Collect and share the information the task needs, with the people authorized to use it.
Recognize what a survey contains
A floor plan can reveal room layout and building use. SSIDs and BSSIDs can identify parts of a network. Point positions show where a measurement was taken. Even when a survey contains no person’s name, its contents can still be sensitive to the property owner.
Before arriving, confirm permission for the work and the intended recipients. Remove unnecessary personal annotations from the source image. A clean floor outline is often easier to use and easier to share appropriately.
Choose location deliberately
Indoor floor coordinates and geographic coordinates serve different purposes. A position tapped inside a room does not require a GPS marker on a map. Decide whether geographic location is necessary for the project before enabling optional attachment.
Wi-Fi Master Planner keeps GPS attachment off by default. Android’s permission requirements for Wi-Fi scanning are a separate operating-system concern; they do not replace the survey’s choice about storing geographic coordinates.
Keep access aligned with the task
Give collaborators the role appropriate to their work and review access when their involvement ends. Use your own account on the survey device. Avoid sharing credentials as a shortcut to an assignment problem.
Protect the device while offline work is pending. Encrypted local storage helps protect records, but the person operating an unlocked, signed-in device may still be able to view authorized project content. Sign out on shared devices when the task is complete.
Review exports before sending
Open the report, confirm the floor and location options, and check the recipient list. A technical export may contain more identifiers than a nontechnical stakeholder needs. Share through the organization’s approved channel rather than a public link chosen for convenience.
If you need access changes, deletion or an export of account information, use the account controls and published support process. The product privacy policy describes its practices; this practical checklist is not a substitute for your organization’s own obligations or instructions.
Take it into the field
- Confirm authority and intended recipients.
- Remove unnecessary personal floor annotations.
- Decide separately whether GPS is needed.
- Review identifiers, location and access before export.
